The Lakshyartha International School takes inspiration from our armed forces and therefore, the students of the school are divided into 4 houses-

The House of FM Sam Manekshaw (Manekshaw House)

Named after the legendary son of India, Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw, also known as Sam Manekshaw who was a highly distinguished military officer in the Indian Armed Forces. FM Manekshaw played a crucial role during the India-Pakistan war in 1947 and 1948 and was also instrumental in The 1962 Indo-China Armed Conflict. His accurate observations during the conflict led to subsequent reforms and modernizations within the Indian military. However, one of the defining moments in FM Manekshaw’s career was his role in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. As the Chief of the Army Staff, he masterfully led the Indian Army to victory.

The House Colour is Teal and the motto is विद्याविनयेनशोभते। (Humility adorns knowledge).

  • The House of FM KM Carriappa (Carriappa House)

First Indian Commander-in-Chief Kodandera Madappa Cariappa, nicknamed “Kipper,” was the first Indian army chief of staff following independence from Great Britain. Popularly called “Jangi Laat,” he led the Army during the 1948 war. FM K.M. Cariappa, the 1st Indian C-in-C, had unquestionable integrity. He hailed from the Rajput Regt. Pakistan captured his Air Force officer son in the 1965 war and Ayub Khan offered to release him. But Cariappa refused, saying all soldiers were his sons.

The House Colour is Red and the motto is साविद्यायाविमुक्तये। (Knowledge is that which gives freedom).

The House of Maj. Shaitan Singh (Kumaon House)

Major Shaitan Singh was a highly decorated Indian Army officer. He was commanding a company of 13 KUMAON at Rezang La in Jammu & Kashmir at a height of about 17,000 feet. On 18 November 1962, Chinese troops attacked his location with overwhelming strength. Major Shaitan Singh dominated the scene of operations and moved from one platoon post to another at great personal risk, sustaining the morale of his troops. Despite being grievously wounded he continued to encourage and lead his men, who, following his brave example fought gallantly and inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy. When his men tried to evacuate him, he refused and kept motivating them to keep fighting, till he breathed his last. For his conspicuous bravery, inspiring leadership and supreme sacrifice, he was awarded the Param Vir Chakra (Posthumous).

The House Colour is Yellow and the motto is पराक्रमविजयते (Bravery leads to success).

The House of Maj. Somnath Sharma (Somnath House)

Major Somnath Sharma sacrificed his life for the country when he was only 24 years of age. Born on 31 January 1923, he was the son of an illustrious Major General Amaranth Sharma. He became the first recipient of India’s highest gallantry award, the Param Vir chakra. He was commissioned into the 8th Battalion, 19th Hyderabad Regiment (later 4th Battalion, Kumaon Regiment) on February 22, 1942.

He attained recognition due to his determined effort to protect the crucial Srinagar airport during the time of the Pakistan-led tribal revolt in 1948. The gallant actions of Major Sharma and his men from 4 battalions Kumaon successfully thwarted the attack by the Pakistani raiders and provided the much-needed time for the Indian army to fortify defenses around Srinagar, thus, enabling India to prevent Kashmir from falling into the hands of the enemy.

The House Colour is Purple and the motto is नबिभॆतिकदाचन (Never afraid).

Apart from the four houses which compete for the prestigious Victory Medal, the School also promotes creative arts and debate/discussion activities by forming two student-oriented societies.

The Art & Music Society

The primary aim of the club is to promote Art, Literature, music and Language. Art allows you to come out of your practical modern life and enter into the world of imagination- unbounded by societal chains. So, it is an amazing way that lets you show your creativity and innovation. This Society enables students to form an opinion and develop their personal affinities. They experience feelings of satisfaction with their own creative abilities. This increases their confidence and self-esteem. It also provides relaxation and enables self-knowledge and satisfies a spiritual need to express their inner world. We believe that education should not be limited to a classroom. Our provision in Performing Arts is exciting and well-resourced, with a broad array of activities available, presenting each student with an opportunity to find her niche. Everyone is encouraged to peruse something more than classroom studies, whatever their level of ability.

Chess Club

Chess teaches the students to be decisive, patient, strategic and take risks. Chess teaches the students to plan their entire game right from the start. Chess teaches you to make sacrifices and lose battles to win wars. Chess is an amazing game and we want our students to excel in it and therefore, have formed this Chess Club for the students to play, learn and grow.
